The two legged qualifier takes place tonight and Sunday, May 18 in Cape Verde’s capital, Praia with a place in this year’s competition at stake.

The all West African nations clash presents a huge opportunity for to qualify to the continental championship for the third time in a row. The Women’s AfroBasket is a biannual competition.

On the other hand, Cape Verde is attempting to reach the tournament for the first time since 2013 and become the sixth nation to book its spot in this year’s tournament.

To do that, the Islanders have to contain Guinea’s main threat Batouly Camara of University of Connecticut in both games this weekend.

Cape Verde Coach Antonio Moreira in an interview with FIBA stated, “Obviously, we hope to have a great showing in front of our fans, and more importantly, we’ll try to win the two games and qualify for the African Championship.”
