The 2018-2019 GSP Basketball League officially comes to a close on Saturday, May 18 at the Sunyani Technical University (STU) Court. Ahead of the final round of games, league debutants Young Boys and Spartans lead the ten team standings with 31 points.
Both teams share the top point tally but Young Boys lead due to having a superior goal difference (309) over Spartans 111 mark. The two face off on Saturday to decide the team that walks away with the title and end defending champions Suncity Braves quest to win the title for the second straight season.
Braves mathematically have a chance to defend the title but needs a huge win over Techiman Merchants and Spartans to beat Young Boys. Braves is in third place with 30 points two points ahead of Desert Rabbits in fourth place to round up the top quartet in this season’s competition.
After recording a top four finish last season and playing at the UPAC Championship quarterfinals for the first time, LIR Royals and Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints disappointed this season and occupy the bottom spots.
