French-Ghanaian Shooting Guard Billy Yakuba Ouattara has led Monaco to a penultimate LNB Pro A win in France to stay put in second place.
Ouattara led Monaco with 16 points off the bench in a 90-78 win over Boulazac over the weekend for its 23rd win this season; Monaco has 23 wins and 10 losses prior to its game against Antibes on Saturday, May 18.
Boulazac’s Leslie Travis and Kenny Cherry led the way 22 points and 20 points respectively but had just Akil Mitchell as teammate to score in double digits.
27 year old Ouattara played 27 minutes and was very efficient converting seven of nine shots in the game. He was brilliant scoring all four attempts from three point range and converting two free throw attempts.
He missed two of three field goal attempts and added seven rebounds and an assist. In 25 minutes this season, Ouattara has 11.5 points and 3.7 rebounds in 27 games.
Ouattara was born in Tepa in the Ashanti Region before moving to France with his parents and has had a stint with Long Island Nets-the affiliate side of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets.
