Ada Knights recovered from a loss to Panthers in the previous round to clinch its maiden win in the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II.
Thanks to a 57-46 win over Dunk Knights, the former registered its first mark in the win column this season at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
The game was almost postponed to rain but got underway after a break and Ada settled into the contest faster than Dunk.
Ada got off to a 10-0 lead with Carl Nii Quartey scoring a three point shot. Dunk got four points from Benjamin Botchway to trail 7-10 with 3:45 left in the first quarter.
Ada’s Joshua Annag and Dunk’s Abdul Salim Hussein got points from the free throw line, Hussein added a jumper. Ada’s John Yahaya scored the last points in a 16-13 first quarter lead.
Dunk Jesse Amegbo tied the score at 13 off a floater but Annang scored to take back the game’s lead. Ada went on a seven point run to close out the second quarter leading 29-16 Knights got points from Prince Lumorvi and Abdul Wahab Hussein.
Dunk got six quick points to open the third quarter to trail 22-29. Ada’s Ashidam Kosmath faked a shot and drove to the basket before sinking a tear drop shot. Annang scored six straight points and Yahaya added two more off a slick move.
Dunk’s Amegbo drained a three point shot from the top of the key with 20 seconds left to trail 46-57. Both teams failed to score in the remaining seconds as Ada run out winners.
