Nigeria’s National Men’s Basketball Team-D’Tigers- will play against Dominican Republic as part of the team’s preparations for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

This year’s World Cup comes off in China from August 31 to September 15 with Nigeria representing as one of five African nations.

D’Tigers are due to play Canada twice in friendly games in Ontario and Quebec on August 5 and 11 respectively but Basketballghana.com understands a two legged matchup against Dominican Republic has been confirmed.

The friendly ties are to be played out on July 19 and 25 respectively in Santo Domingo ahead of the World competition. Automatic qualification places at the 2020 Olympic Games will go to the top seven teams at the end of the World Cup.

According to Nigeria Basketball Federation President Musa Kida, there are plans to organize another set of friendly games in Lagos before the team’s departure to China.

The 2015 African Champions are drawn in Group B alongside Russia, South Korea and Argentina. Angola, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Tunisia are the remaining African representatives.
