Ghanaian basketball prospect Derrick Quansah has verbally committed to play for East Carolina University’s Men’s Basketball Team next year.
Quansah was originally scheduled to feature among the 2019 Class of recruits but has opted to spend a year at Prep School before moving to College.
The Cape-Coast native is a 6 foot 11 inch Center who committed to the Pirates in the 2020 Class and visited the University unofficially earlier in February.
The talented defensive presence had received offers from Old Dominion University, South Carolina Upstate and Western Carolina. Basketballghana.com gathers University of Connecticut also showed interest.
Quansah is the first commit for East Carolina next year and explained his reasons behind committing to the University to 247sports. He said:
“Visiting ECU on my official visit I got to meet the coaching staff and took a tour around campus… and I felt welcomed, this led to my decision.”
Quansah adds to the burgeoning list of young Ghanaians in the US College basketball system. Ebenezer Dowuona has received multiple scholarship offers from the likes of Ohio State and is a member of the 2020 class of recruits.
