Semifinal fixtures of the 2019 FIBA Africa Basketball League (AfroLeague) have been confirmed and a couple of former champions are involved in the competition.

Defending champions AS Sale from Morocco and Primeiro do Agosto from Angola have won the competition before and will face teams yet to triumph in Africa’s flagship club tournament.

Sale takes on JS Kairouan from Tunisia while Agosto plays Smouha SC from Egypt in Luanda, Angola from May 24-26 to determine the finalists in this year’s edition.

Sale won in 2017 ahead of ESRades from Tunisia in the competition then known as FIBA Africa Clubs Champions Cup.

Agosto is Africa’s most successful team after winning the title on eight occasions and is in the hunt for its ninth trophy but has a tough Smouha side to contend with in the semis.

Smouha ousted 2016 Champions Al Ahly in the all Egyptian quarterfinals and JSK did same eliminating fellow Tunisian side Rades at the quarters.

JSK and Smoha feature the top scorers remaining in the competition in Maodo Nguirane and James Justice respectively.
