Suncity Braves have lost a fourth game in the 2019 GSP Basketball League season after falling to Spartans Club over the weekend.

Braves lost 25-31 to Spartans at the Sunyani Technical University (STU) Court on Sunday, April 28; the loss puts Suncity’s lead at the top of the standings in real danger.

The defending league champions held a two point lead over Young Boys with the latter having a game in hand. Young Boys inactivity over the weekend means the team has two games to be played with three points separating the top two sides.

Spartans 9-3 first quarter lead played a key role in determining the final outcome of the game as the remaining quarters remained close. The teams were tied on eight points in the second quarter but Braves clinched a 10-8 third quarter lead before a 6-4 fourth quarter win for Spartans sealed the win.

Edem Agboado’s 10 point, five rebound, four steals and two assists led the way for Spartans an got help from Seth Adjei who recorded seven points and seven rebounds.

Four games are scheduled to be played at the same venue on May 1 including Young Boys matchup against West Siders.
