Braves of Customs Female Basketball Team flexed its muscles as the most dominant team on the Ghanaian scene and pounded its way to a 61-21 win over Tudu Galaxy in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division earlier tonight.
The matchup took place at the Prisons Court in Cantonments, Accra with Ghana Fire Service beating Kawukudi Warriors 53-49 in the Men’s Division I.
Gloria Gyampoh scored the game first points from the free throw line scoring both attempts and Braves led 18-6 at the end of the first quarter as the likes of Berlinda Tawiah and Braves frontcourt tandem of Gyampoh and Matilda Gordon got in on the scoring act. Galaxy on the other hand, got points from Point Guard Ruth Atibila.
Braves were excellent on the boards scoring points off second chances and inside the paint. Braves led 33-6 at the end of the first half.
Aishetu Malike banked in a turnaround jumper but Braves got a quick response from Gyampoh who scored four straight points including a fastbreak layup in the third quarter.
Tawiah and Gyampoh connected on a beautiful long pass in the play of the game. Atibila scored four straight points off a crossover and a running layup and a deep three point shot as Galaxy trailed 18-40 but went on lose 61-21 as Braves clicked into gear late in the game.
