The newly created regions in Ghana are in line to have basketball courts constructed in the coming months after Brong Ahafo Basketball Association Chairman Edward Twum Anane unveiled plans to build ten courts in the three regions.
Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions are targets for the West African nation’s big wave of basketball infrastructure development.
This is the plan from Anane per The Citizen Times to develop the sport and improve support from the communities towards basketball.
While revealing basketball in the already exiting Brong Ahafo Region is “big and growing bigger in Senior High Schools and Universities” he lamented on the poor state of infrastructure as a major impediment hence the need for the construction of new courts.
“Lack of facilities, equipment and technical staff are some of the major challenges” he stated. The Brong Ahafo Region is home to the GSP Basketball League which commenced in 2015 and has been the bedrock of solid talents in and around the region in recent years.
Suncity Braves are defending champions.
