Father of Nike Youth Ambassador and basketball prodigy Jahlil “Jah Swish” Owusu, James Owusu, believes developing the youth is Ghana’s best strategy to grow basketball in the country.
He made the statement in an interview on Kwese Free Sports”HeadStart” today in the presence of his famous son and DC Dynamics Coach Feranmi Olulonyo.
Responding to a question regarding differences between basketball in Ghana and the USA where is based, James Owusu pointed out some issues including playing surfaces that need work in the West African nation and youth development.
“First of all the infrastructure some of the courts here need to be redone…I feel like if we start them young and they acquire the skills at a young age then they get better and that’s the only thing I see because America they start early. I think something like that if we can incorporate that here will be better” he said.
Owusu and his son are in the country to donate Nike products to young individuals to aid in their development in basketball.
