The basketball calendar for tertiary institutions in Ghana ended on a successful note with the conclusion of the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The grandest competition had University of Ghana (UG) win a record fourth title after beating Takoradi Technical University (TTU) 37-32 in the final game.

UPAC was the last of the respective competitions under the educational sects in the West African nation. Prior to UPAC, there were major competitions.

Despite missing out on a third UPAC trophy, Accra Technical University (ATU) did good by clinching another Ghana Technical Universities Sports Association (GHATUSA) Games title ahead of TTU.

In the Women’s Division, it was the opposite reality as TTU scored a 21-20 win over ATU to end the latter’s dominant run in the division. Koforidua Technical University (KTU) secured a surprise bronze medal.

At the Private Universities Sports Association Games (PUSAG), Wisconsin International University College and Islamic University College ended up with gold medals in the Male and Female Divisions respectively.

Unfortunately, the Mini Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games held in Winneba did not include basketball.
