A complete breakdown of investment from the NBA in the maiden Basketball Africa League (BAL) is still yet to be announced with the impending start of the innovative league.

Managing Director of NBA Africa Amadou Fall didn’t name the specific amount the NBA will commit to the league according to Pan African Hoops.

Per reports gathered by Basketballghana.com, Fall didn’t confirm the amount but said it was worth millions of dollars.

The league is an initiative from the NBA to aid the growth of basketball in Africa due to the continent’s closeness to the world’s best basketball league.

Some of the top stars in the league including Philadelphia Sixers Center Joel Embiid are from the continent. Embiid hails from Camerron.

The competition features 12 teams representing six nations on the continent in the first year in 2020. Nations selected are Egypt, Nigeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal and Angola.

League winners in the selected nations qualify automatically to the competition with a playoff league qualifier due to select the remaining six teams.
