Tunisia Small Forward Ziyed Chennoufi has expressed his excitement about playing his first World Cup later this year.

The 2019 World Cup will be held in China from August 31 to September 15 with United States of America as defending Champions.

Tunisia is one five African nations to compete in the Asian country and in an interview with FIBA, 30 year old Chennoufi stated:

‘I’m really excited as it’s going to be my first World Cup. It’s been one of my childhood dreams to play in a competition like the World Cup’.

However, he was quick to point out how difficult the competition is by stating, ‘It’s definitely not the easiest group in the tournament, but our goal is to try and secure second place’.

Tunisia is in Group C with Spain, Iran and Puerto Rico. Considering the immense pedigree of the Spanish side, Chennoufi picked Spain as favourites to qualify first from the group.
