The 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship ended on a good note with an exciting game between University of Ghana (UG) and Takoradi Technical University (TTU) in the final game.

UG won its fourth title by beating TTU 37-32; this year’s competition marked the closest TTU has been to ending its title drought.

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) placed third behind the top two sides albeit under bizarre circumstances.

KNUST was billed to play Accra Technical University (ATU) for the bronze medal but ATU failed to show up for the game and forfeiting it eventually.

ATU’s action was in response to what the two time champions deemed unfair treatment from game officials in its 50-51 loss to UG in the semifinals.

Despite the forfeited game, placing third represents a big improvement for the team after failing to make the semifinals in last year’s competition.

KNUST battled hard and narrowly missed playing in the final game for the second time but lost 33-36 to TTU in overtime.
