Takoradi Technical University (TTU) has qualified to the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Final game.
TTU clinched a 36-33 hard fought win in overtime over Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in this year’s semifinals.
This is Takoradi Technical’s maiden trip to the final game of the UPAC Championship after several missed chances in previous editions.
The score was tied at 27 at the end of regulation time with both teams converting from the free throw line. A late three point shot attempt from TTU Captain Richard Donor to give his side a late game lead missed sending the game to overtime.
TTU had Mustapha Ahmed foul out of the game in overtime but his side held on with Donor and Ibrahim Jawal scoring from the free throw line.
KNUST had a chance to tie the score but the three point shot attempt ended in a fumble as time run out. TTU will play UG in the final game after the latter beat Accra Technical University (ATU) 51-50.
