After topping the Group of Death, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has drawn Takoradi Technical University (TTU) as its semifinal opponent in the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
The game takes place on Saturday, April 13 at the University of Ghana (UG) Central Court with jump ball set at 10:30 GMT.
The matchup follows host and defending champions UG’s highly anticipated matchup against bitter rival Accra Technical University (ATU).
KNUST won all three games to qualify in first place in Group B with the third win coming via a 43-40 victory over Radford University College.
KNUST beat the likes of ATU, 2017 silver medalist Marshalls University College and Radford University to first place with a very young side that surprised many in the quarterfinals.
TTU started the quarterfinals on a jerky note losing 42-44 to UG despite holding a 20-5 first quarter lead and a 30-17 second quarter lead.
However, the team got its acts together to record wins over Catholic University College and Koforidua Technical College.
This year’s UPAC Championship is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
