Radford University College has clinched a big win over Marshalls University College in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
Radford University beat Marshalls 32-28 in Group B of this year’s quarterfinals taking place at the University of Ghana (UG) Central Court.
The win is Radford University’s first in the knockout stage of the UPAC Championship. Group B is regarded as the tougher of the two groups housing the quarterfinalists.
On the other hand, the loss represents a poor start from 2017 silver medal winners Marshalls University who need to win its next game against Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
KNUST beat two time winners Accra Technical University (ATU) with the same result (32-28) in a very physical game that a lot of fouls. The game was unsurprisingly decided from the free throw line.
Radford takes on KNUST in a tough contest that could decide which team progresses to the semifinals.
This year’s UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
