Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) has secured its maiden win at the quarterfinal stage of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
Catholic beat Koforidua Technical University (KTU) 41-34 for the historic win in Group A of the ongoing 2019 edition at the University of Ghana (UG) Central Court.
In the game of quarterfinal debutants, it was Catholic University that settled quicker and clinched a 35-21 lead in the first half.
The Fiapre based institution Catholic University continued its assault in the second half to clinch the seven point win. The Zone 4 Champions have made an encouraging start in the knockout phase.
Catholic University plays three time UPAC winners and host UG in the next game in a fixture between winners in the first round of games in the Group.
UG beat Takoradi Technical University (TTU) 44-42 in another entertaining game setting up an interesting second round.
KTU plays TTU with both teams needing a win to avoid an early exit from the Championship. This year’s UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
