Ghana’s 3×3 Basketball National Team Coordinator James Ocloo has stated the country’s recent participation in the FIBA 3X3 Young Lions Cup “wasn’t easy”.
He made this revelation in an interview on Kwese Free Sports “HeadStart” in the aftermath of leading Ghana to clinch bronze in the Girls and Boys categories respectively.
Home nation Ivory Coast won gold in both divisions with neighbor Ghana coming in third after recording a flawless group stage campaign ahead of the likes of Djibouti and Sao Tome and Principe.
“They-the participating countries-came very prepared so it wasn’t an easy competition. The boys played well, the girls also played so well its’ just that we didn’t have that preparation that we needed” he said.
The two day competition was played in Abidjan, Ivory Coast last month with Vikings and Oxford Heat representing Ghana in the Boys and Categories respectively.
Grabbing bronze represents the latest positive mark in 3×3 Basketball for Ghana after the Senior National Female Team competed at the continental level last year.
