Big names on the Ghanaian tertiary basketball scene got drawn into enticing quarterfinal groups for this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
The draw aired live on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports morning show “HeadStart” earlier today with Rite Sports-UPAC organizers- CEO Yaw Sakyi Afari headlining the draw.
In Group A, defending champions University of Ghana (UG) headlines the group that has Takoradi Technical University, Koforidua Technical University and Catholic University College.
In Group B, last year’s beaten finalist Accra Technical University (ATU) will play Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Radford University College and Marshalls University College.
Catholic University and Koforidua Technical University are competing at this stage for the first time ditto Radford University in Group B.
The top two teams in each group qualify to the semifinals. The quarterfinal games are scheduled to be played on Friday, April 12 at UG’s Central Court. Semifinal games and the final game come off a day later at the same venue.
This year’s UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
