Central (red) v Regional Maritime University
Regional Maritime University (RMU) clinched its first win in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The team beat Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) 19-9 for its first victory in the institution’s participation in the esteemed competition.

The win took place at the University of Ghana (UG) Central Court in Zone 8 of this year’s Championship over this past weekend.

Despite clinching the win, Regional Maritime placed third in the zone and missed the quarterfinals in the process. RMU suffered a 19-33 loss to Central University and a 25-49 loss to UG.

Host UG topped the zone to qualify. The three time UPAC winner UG beat Central University 35-17 in the final game to clinch three wins in three games in the zone. Central placed second with GIMPA placing fourth.

UG will compete in the quarterfinals on April 11 and 12 against fellow zonal winners including Koforidua Technical University, Marshalls University College and Accra Technical University.
