University of Ghana (UG) Men’s Basketball Coach Dr. Baba Samori has honoured three players in the team for their outstanding contribution to the team’s success over the years.
Emmanuel Wolff, Gerard Sappor and Johnson Okoe were celebrated by prior to UG’s final Zone 8 qualifier against Central University in this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
The trio has been integral to UG’s dominance on the Ghanaian scene and African scene helping the West African nation’s premier University win the 2016 and 2018 All Africa University Games titles.
On the local front, UG has won the biggest tertiary basketball competition-UPAC- in three straight years and in line to win a fourth title this year.
All three players are graduating from the institution at the end of this semester and Dr. Samori believed their efforts was worthy of the gesture.
UG went on to beat Central University 35-17 to top the zone and qualify to the UPAC quarterfinals. The knockout phase starts Thursday, April 11 and ends with the final game on April 13 at UG’s Central Court.
