The final of qualification games to the quarterfinals of the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is set to roll out this weekend.
On Saturday, April 6 at the University of Ghana (UG) Central Court, games in Zone 8 are scheduled to be played out to determine the winning institution.
Host UG, Central University, Regional Maritime University and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) will compete tomorrow.
UG double as three time winners of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition winning in consecutive years beginning in 2016.
The Host is the clear favourite to top the zone and progress to the quarterfinals in this year’s edition which already has UG’s bitter rival Accra Technical University (ATU) book a spot in the knockout phase.
GIMPA has progressed to the quarterfinals on two occasions but have yet to progress since 2017 while Regional Maritime and Central University are yet to progress beyond the preliminary stage.
This year’s UPAC Championship is sponsored by CAL Bank and MTN.
