University of Ghana (UG) Men’s Basketball Team is heavily tipped to win Zone 8 in this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
The two time All Africa University Games Basketball Gold Medalist is scheduled to play in this year’s zonal qualifiers on Saturday, April 6. UG is hosting the qualifiers.
UG has been drawn alongside Central University, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Regional Maritime University in the zone.
Only the zone’s winner qualifies to the quarterfinal stage where games are set to be played on April 11 and 12 with semifinal games and the final game scheduled for April 13.
UG is expected to top the zone since the team goes into this weekend’s games as UPAC Champions in the past three straight editions.
The team is yet to lose a game in over three years and recently came out on top of a friendly contest featuring Radford University College who qualified from Zone 7.
Despite the changing faces on the roster sheet, UG still possesses a strong group of young players led by Captain and Shooting Guard Emmanuel Wolff to clinch another zonal title.
