The much anticipated game between Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints and Sunyani Technical University (STU) did not come off as planned.
The fixture was scheduled to be played out at STU in Round 11 of the 2018-2019 GSP Basketball League season led by Suncity Braves who double as defending champions.
However, the biggest game of the round ended in a forfeited matchup as CUCG Saints failed to turn up for the encounter leaving STU to an easy win.
Officially, STU was handed a 20-0 win to improve seven wins and four losses this season. Saints on the other hand, have two wins in nine games.
The buildup was dominated by CUCG Saints shock 33-27 win over STU to top Zone 4 and qualify to the quarterfinals of this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
STU rolled into the qualifiers as defending zonal champions but got outrebounded, outhustled and outscored against a determined Catholic University side who progressed to its maiden quarterfinals appearance.
