Regional Maritime University (RMU) is slated to compete in this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
The institution is drawn in Zone 8 in Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition and scheduled to play on Saturday, April 6 at the University of Ghana (UG).
RMU is in the zone alongside host and defending champions UG, Central University and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
Regional Maritime set participation this weekend marks the institution’s return to the UPAC fold after missing out on last year’s edition.
After featuring in the 2017 edition, Regional Maritime was expected to follow up on an encouraging display but varied reasons prevented the institution’s Men’s Basketball Team from featuring in the Championship.
However, its return puts RMU in a tough spot to top the zone and progress to the quarterfinals since UG has won the last three editions of the competition.
GIMPA has featured twice at the quarterfinal stage while Central University has vast experience as a consistent participant in the tournament.
