Ghana Forward Ben Bentil produced a standout performance over the weekend as Peristeri GS took down Panathinaikos in Greece’s A1 Basketball League.
Peristeri beat the league leaders 80-72 in Week 21 of the 2018-2019 league season with Bentil scoring 21 points for Peristeri.
The loss is Panathinaikos first of the season; prior to the game against Peristeri, the Athens based side had won all 19 games played.
Bentil was in excellent form producing a double double after adding 13 rebounds to his scoring tally. The 6 foot 8 inch player was the only one to register a double double.
In 24 minutes, Bentil’s stat line was very impressive with two assists, a steal and a block to give Peristeri the big win. He was one of only three players on his team to score in double figures.
Teammate Steven Gray topped all scorers with 27 points to give Peristeri its 14th win in 21 games. The team stays in sixth place in the standings sharing the same record with PAOK and Promitheas.
