Koforidua Technical University (KTU) Male Basketball Team is in line to compete in this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship starting this weekend.

The team plays All Nations University College, Ho Technical University and Presbyterian University College in Zone 1 of the prestigious competition on Saturday, March 2.

The zonal competition is hosted by Pope John Senior High School and Junior Seminary and the winner progresses to the national stage of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition.

KTU has missed out on playing on the national stage and is under pressure to do so especially following the institution’s Female Basketball Team at the GHATUSA Games that ended earlier this month.

Koforidua’s Female Basketball Team placed third in the all Technical University / Polytechnic Games in a shock result thanks to a 23-7 win over Kumasi Technical University.

After failing to medal at the GHATUSA Games and failing to make the quarterfinals in back to back years in the UPAC, KTU’s Male Team is faced with the prospect of replicating its female colleagues success.

All Nations are defending zonal champions heading to Saturday.
