Ho Technical University (HTU) rolled into the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship on the back of an impressive 2017 campaign.

The team placed second at the 2017 Ghana Technical Universities/ Polytechnics Sports Association (GHATUSA) Games held in Bolgatanga.

Ho lost in the final game to Accra Technical University (ATU) before playing in the UPAC Championship weeks later in a tough group that had Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) qualify with its best roster ever.

In the lead up to this year’s competition, HTI played and missed out on qualifying to the knockout phase of the 2019 GHATUSA.

More concerning, the team didn’t play like it did in the 2018 UPAC Zonal competition; HTU missed out on securing the top spot and progression to the next stage by a whisker.

The competing teams shared a win and a loss record respectively but All Nations University College got through due to point differential.

HTU’s rebound performance in Zone One on March 2 at POJOSS would be closely monitored.
