The list of Africa’s representatives in the upcoming FIBA 2019 World Cup in China is dominated by nations from the West African sub region.

Nigeria, Senegal and Ivory Coast have qualified to compete at the world games in September this year alongside Angola and Tunisia.

Africa’s slots at the competition were increased from three to five in reflection of an increased roster for future World Cups. Hitherto, the competition had 24 nations competing.

Ivory Coast became the latest and final nation to qualify after winning all three games in the final round of qualifiers in Group F played in front of its home fans.

The Elephants sealed its place in China with a 69-49 win over Mali after clinching similar big wins over Nigeria and Rwanda.

Nigeria topped Group F with Senegal and Ivory Coast following suit while in Group E, Tunisia and Angola ended in first and second place respectively.

Senegal and Ivory Coast rounded up the list of qualified nations in the final round played this past weekend in Abidjan. USA won the World title in 2014 in Spain.
