UG v Heat (in White jersey)

University of Ghana (UG) earlier today hosted an invitational basketball tournament at the institution’s Central Courts and walked away victors.

The Male and Female Basketball Teams were in action in the friendly series of games designed to prepare players for upcoming competitions.

In the Male Division, teams representing Radford University College, Central University College, University of Professional Studies (UPSA) and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) competed. Radford placed second.

In the Female Division, UG and Oxford Heat engaged in series of matchups; Heat featured all four members that will represent Ghana at the FIBA Under 18 3×3 Basketball Young Lions Cup in Abidjan, Ivory Coast later this year.

The Male Team used today’s competition as a test for next month’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

This year’s UPAC commences on Saturday, March 2 in Zone 1 in Koforidua with the likes of All Nations University College and Koforidua Technical University (KTU) due to compete.

UG’s Male team has won the prestigious UPAC in three straight years from 2016 to 2018 and aims for a fourth trophy in Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition.
