The Elephants of Ivory Coast are close to qualifying to the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China after clinching two big wins at the ongoing final round of qualifiers in Group F.
Ivory Coast’s National Male Basketball Team beat Rwanda 87-60 a day after topping Nigeria; Ivory Coast’s course was helped by Central African Republic’s 59-72 loss to Nigeria.
This means Ivory Coast has to beat Mali in its final game today to stand a chance of progressing to the world games in Asia in September.
Ghana’s Western neighbor needs more than win to secure qualification since Ivory Coast must beat Mali by at least 13 points.
The Elephants can still progress if scores a 12 point win over Mali and scores 136 points in the win to become the fifth nation from the continent to qualify.
Nigeria, Tunisia, Angola and Senegal have qualified to China where 32 nations are expected to compete for the title last won by USA.
Barring a miracle, Central African Republic’s chances of making the World Cup ended with its loss to Nigeria.
