Vikings land in Group of Death for BetWay Hoops Tourney

Teshie Vikings have been drawn in the “Group of Death” at this year’s BetWay Hoops Tournament set to roll later today at the Tema Community 4 Court.

The eight team tournament tips off at 9:00 GMT and involves only teams that participated in the 2018 Tema Community Basketball League.

However, Vikings got drawn in Group A alongside Nungua Coldstore, Tema Community 2 and Tema Community 4 at the preliminary stage.

Coldstore won the maiden edition of the BetWay Hoops Tournament in 2018 on the back of a 48-17 win over Oil City Dragons. The team topped that up with a 2-1 Finals Series win to clinch the Tema League title.

Tema Community 4 won the 2017 Tema League title and Tema Community 2 placed fourth in the 2018 league campaign.

In Group B, last year’s League finalist Tema Heat is due to play Francophone Stars, Teshie Rangers and Akatsi Rifles. Francophone Stars placed third in last year’s league campaign.

The tournament is headlined by lead betting firm BetWay.
