KAAF v Regent (yellow)
UEW placed third

UCC (red) topped the zone in 2017.
Ahead of this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship, Basketballghana.com takes a look at highlight moments of the previous edition in 2018.

In the 2018 edition of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition, University of Cape-Coast (UCC) failed to participate in the tournament.

One of the foremost participants of UPAC, UCC pulled out of participating in the divisional championship late. The institution’s Male Basketball was due to play in the Central Zone.

University of Education-Winneba (UEW), Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) and KAAF University College were the remaining members in the zone.

UCC’s failure to make an appearance at UEW for the games was reportedly down to administrative issues. The development led to the inclusion of Regent University College in the zone.

Regent made its debut in the competition as a result of the development and went on to place second in the group behind host UEW who qualified to the national championship.

UEW ended up placing third as University of Ghana won the title.
