The 2019 FIBA Intercontinental Cup ended in Rio de Janeiro’s Carioca 1 Arena in Brazil this past weekend with Greek side AEK Athens winning the trophy.

Athens clinched the title with an 86-70 win over host Flamengo; Athens represented Europe as winners of the Basketball Champions League.

In the Bronze medal game, South American Champions San Lorenzo secured a 77-59 win over NBA Gatorade League Champions Austin Spurs.

Ghana’s Amida Brimah played 29 minutes in the loss for Spurs and recorded a double double scoring ten points and gathering ten rebounds while adding four blocks and an assist.

Despite missing out on a medal at the world games, the Ghanaian Center had an impressive outing in the tournament that run from February 15-17.

Brimah ranked second in rebounds in the tournament with an average of 8.5 in two games falling behind Joel Anthony of San Lorenzo who had nine rebounds.

Anthony topped the blocks category with 4.5 rejections in two games and Amida followed closely with 4 four blocks on average in two games.

Anthony is a two time NBA Champion with Miami Heat.
