Boys Champs Vikings
Girls Champs Oxford Heat

Oxford Heat and Vikings have emerged as winners of Ghana’s Under 18 3×3 Basketball Qualifiers for the FIBA Young Lions Cup.

The teams topped the Girls and Boys Divisions respectively at the qualifiers held at the Accra Technical University (ATU) Court in Tudu on Saturday.

Heat won the Female division following 3-0 win over Lakers in the final game which had Oxford dominate the team in black to clinch the win.

Matters were very competitive in the Boys Division as Vikings beat a strong Team LAL 10-7 in the final with former Sprite Ball winner and Most Valuable Player Award winner Dennis Dugbennu leading Vikings.

Both teams have qualified to the African Championship of the competition endorsed by basketball world governing body FIBA. The continental tournament commences in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in March this year.

18 teams competed in the Boys Division while four teams featured in the Girls Division with each team presenting four players. The qualifiers were originally scheduled at the Accra Sports Stadium last month.
