The recently held FIBA 3X3 Basketball Under 18 Qualifiers had an impressive player turn out according to Coordinator James Ocloo.
He made this statement in an exclusive chat with Basketballghana.com in the aftermath of the qualifiers held at the Accra Technical University (ATU) Court in Tudu on Saturday after several postponements.
The qualifiers were organized to select teams to represent Ghana at the Young Lions Cup African Championship in Abidjan, Ivory Coast next month.
Winners of the continental tournament will participate on the world stage in Malaysia later this year. The likes of Guinea-Bissau organized similar exercises on Saturday.
After several postponements, there were legitimate concerns the turnout would be low but 18 teams competed teams in the Boys Division and four teams competed in the Girls Division and Coach Ocloo was okay with it.
“It-turnout- was good we didn’t expect that number from the guys…we didn’t expect any ladies team but we got four so we are okay with that” he said.
Vikings won the Boys Division and Oxford Heat won the Girls Division.
