Today’s qualifiers were organized to get representatives for Ghana in the upcoming African Championship in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The Young Lions Cup is a 3×3 Basketball competition for players under the age of 18 and is backed by basketball’s world governing body FIBA.

18 teams made of four players on each team competed in the Boys Division while four teams competed in the Girls Division today.

Oxford Heat emerged winners in the Girls Division while Vikings topped the Boys Division with 10-7 win over Team LAL in the final.

Heat beat Lakers 3-0 to win the Girls Final and the respective winners will represent Ghana in Ivory Coast in March this year to battle for a spot at the World Games.

Coordinator of Ghana’s 3×3 Team James Ocloo was impressed with the turnout and enthusiasm of the players throughout the trials. Ghana is making strides in 3×3 Basketball lately with the Senior Female side competing in last year’s African Championship.
