Qualifiers to select Ghana’s representatives for the African FIBA Under 18 3X3 Young Lions Cup in Abidjan, Ivory Coast takes place today.

The qualifiers for young boys and girls are to be held at the Accra Technical University (ATU) Court in Tudu with several teams of prospective national team players expected to participate.

This latest development comes as a massive relief to players who were forced to wait for nearly a month to get the chance to represent Ghana.

The qualifiers were originally scheduled last month at the Accra Sports Stadium but plans were scrapped due to administrative challenges.

With the green light lit, successful teams get the chance to represent Ghana at the African championship in neighbouring Ivory Coast for a chance to participate at the world event.

Malaysia will host the world championship later this year and Ghana seeks to compete on the world stage. 3X3 Basketball has been successful in recent years in the West African nation.

Last year, Ghana’s Senior Female Team competed at the African Championship.
