The 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is set to commence later this month and Basketballghana.com takes a look at major events that took place in the previous edition last year ahead of the upcoming tournament.

Going into the 2018 competition on the back of a silver medal finish in 2017, Marshalls University College was shoe in semifinalist but matters turned sour for the James Okine led side.

Marshalls failed to progress from the divisional stage after suffering a 14-16 loss to Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) in the group’s qualification decider.

The shock loss preceded another poor performance from the team at the Private Universities Sports Association Games (PUSAG) held in Kumasi.

Marshalls missed out on defending its title with Radford University College winning the title to cap off a poor run by Marshalls after winning three straight championships.

Complacency and arrogance were the main flaws pointed out by observers of the team and after a down year, Marshalls are expected to come back stronger.
