Days leading up to the start of the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship, Basketballghana.com takes a look at major events in the past edition.
Last year’s edition of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition had eight tough teams representing institutions feature at the quarterfinal stage.
The competing teams were fairly drafted from the three sects in Ghana’s tertiary education sector after qualifying from the divisional stage.
Accra Technical University (ATU), Takoradi Technical University and Sunyani Technical University represented the Technical University/ Polytechnic Sect.
University of Ghana (UG), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and University of Education-Winneba represented the Public Universities Sect.
Ghana Technology University College and All Nations University College represented the Private Universities sect at the knockout stage.
However, the Public Universities sect had no representative progress to the semifinals as University of Ghana and Accra Technical University played in the final game for the second time in the competition’s history.
ATU lost 36-41 to UG.
