Regent University College Men’s Basketball Team is in line to compete in this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
The team made its maiden appearance in the competition last year as a late replacement for University of Cape Coast (UCC) who pulled out at the last turn.
Regent filled in admirably competing at the zonal level against University of Education-Winneba (UEW), Cape Coast Technical University and KAAF University College.
Regent beat Cape Coast Technical 51-39 and KAAF 35-25 to stay within reach of qualifying to the quarterfinal stage of the competition.
However, a qualification showdown against UEW ended in a 52-35 loss for Regent to finish second in the zone. UEW progressed and ended winning bronze at the main tournament.
Regent followed its strong performance at UPAC with a third place finish at the Private Universities Sports Association Games (PUSAG).
Set to feature in its second UPAC, Regent is heavily tipped as one of the dark horse contenders for a quarterfinal slot in the 2019 UPAC.
