After a brief spell at Dallas Mavericks from Ben Bentil, Ghana is still looking out to see a player from the West African nation feature in the NBA.
2016 NBA 51st Draft pick Bentil played four games for Mavericks after signing a ten day contract to become the first Ghana born player to play in the NBA.
Center Amida Brimah has not played in the NBA after graduating from University of Connecticut with a National Collegiate Championship title on his CV.
However, a big opportunity awaits Brimah as he gets ready to play in this year’s FIBA Intercontinental Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from February 15-17.
Brimah and NBA Gatorade League Champions Austin Spurs, Flamengo, Greek side AEK Athens and South American Champions San Lorenzo are contenders for this year’s title.
After helping Spurs win last season’s G-League title, Brimah has a big chance to audition for an NBA spot with a host of scouts expected to attend the game during the NBA’s All Star Break.
Spurs play host Flamengo in the opening game.
