Accra Technical University (ATU) heads to the upcoming Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship once again as the overwhelming favorites to make the semifinals.
The team claimed gold in Men’s Division Basketball at the just ended GHATUSA-Ghana Technical Universities / Polytechnics Sports Association- Games over this past weekend.
ATU clinched a 38-25 win over Takoradi Technical University (TTU) to ready itself for what is expected to be another seep run in the UPAC tournament.
However, Accra Technical achieved the same feat in 2017 at the GHATUSA Games but missed out on competing in the UPAC Final game.
That matchup had University of Ghana (UG) play Marshalls University College and the former recorded a 43-21 win to secure its second straight title.
Last year, UG beat ATU to win an unprecedented third straight title and with Accra Technical University’s win at the GHATUSA Games, its chances of climbing back to the top of Ghana’s tertiary basketball sect is highly anticipated.
The 2019 UPAC is due to launch later this month.
