The just ended Ghana Technical Universities / Polytechnics Sports Association (GHATUSA) Games had Accra Technical University (ATU) and Takoradi Technical University (TTU) win gold in the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Divisions respectively.
ATU clinched a 38-25 win over TTU to win the Men’s Division while Sunyani Technical University (STU) clinched third place with a 25-24 win over Kumasi Technical University (KsTU).
Accra Technical maintained its position on top of the division by successfully defending the title while TTU and STU moved up in position from the previous edition.
In 2017, TTU and STU missed out on a medal at the competition held at Bolgatanga Polytechnic but improved this year to clinch second and third.
However, the story was not same for KsTU and Ho Technical University (HTU) as both teams slipped from third and second in 2017 to miss out on a medal in this year’s edition.
Ho Technical placed second two years ago following a 28-52 loss to Accra Technical University in the final. All institutions listed above are in line to compete in the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship with University of Ghana as defending champions.
