Ghana Center Amida Brimah and Austin Spurs are expected in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ahead of the team’s set participation at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.
This year’s competition is to be played out at the Carioca 1 Arena in the Brazilian city after the posh arena hosted basketball games in the 2016 Olympics.
Spurs is one of four teams competing alongside Flamengo, Basketball Champions League winners AEK Athens and San Lorenzo.
The competition runs from February 15-17 with Spurs due to play San Lorenzo and home side Flamengo take on AEK Athens in the opening round.
The winners progress to the final while the losers play for third place; Spain’s Real Madrid is the most successful team in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup’s history.
Spurs last featured in the NBA Gatorade League on Sunday, February 10 in an 89-98 loss to Salt Lake City Stars. Brimah played 16 minutes scoring six points, registering two blocks and four rebounds.
The Ghanaian player was the best player in Spurs 111-109 win over Oklahoma City Blue prior to losing to Salt Lake.
