Reigning Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Champions University of Ghana (UG) are prepping for this year’s edition without any warm up competition.

The team was eligible to play in the Mini Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games basketball competition but the competition was called off.

The Mini GUSA served UG well in its preparations for the 2017 UPAC Ghana’s premier tertiary institution won. UG won the Mini GUSA held in January at the University of Cape Coast’s Indoor arena.

However, with the absence of this year’s Mini GUSA, UG heads to the 2019 UPAC without major preparations. UG has won the title in three straight editions.

On the other hand, UG’s rivals especially those in the Technical University / Polytechnic sect after the Ghana Technical Universities / Polytechnics Sports Association (GHATUSA) Games basketball competition ended on Saturday.

Accra Technical University, Takoradi Technical University and Sunyani Technical University placed first, second and third at the GHATUSA Games respectively.

All three institutions competed in last year’s UPAC Quarterfinals.
