Sunyani Technical University (STU) ended its campaign in this year’s Ghana Technical Universities / Polytechnics Sports Association (GHATUSA) Games in third place.
In a matchup against Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) earlier today at the Accra Technical University (ATU) Court, STU recorded a 25-24 win over KsTU.
The closely contested game went down to the wire but it was Sunyani that prevailed to grab the consolation prize in the 2019 edition of the biannual multisport competition.
Both teams now turn their attention to the upcoming Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship early next month.
UPAC is Ghana’s biggest basketball tournament for tertiary institutions in the West African nation and both teams competed in the last edition held last year.
With Sunyani Technical earning a podium spot, attention turns to the final game on Saturday, February 9 between defending champions ATU and Takoradi Technical University (TTU) at 9:00 GMT.
ATU topped STU 29-20 and TTU beat KsTU 52-23 in the semifinals played on Wednesday.
