Avid Basketball enthusiast Dr. Tetteh Nettey turns 50 today and Basketballghana.com congratulates the Meridian-Marshalls Holdings President.
Dr. Nettey served as Marshalls University College President from 2013 till July, 2016 when he was replaced by Dr. Benony Kortatsi.
During his time as Marshalls President, Dr. Nettey was heavily involved in the development of basketball at Marshalls leading the institution to dominate the Private Universities Sports Association Games (PUSAG) Basketball competition with two gold medals.
Great investments have been made over the years in that regard and have bore significant fruits with Marshalls growing into an established force in the sport.
In its first stint in Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition-Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship, Marshalls placed fourth.
Marshalls placed second in the 2017 edition of UPAC and has offered several scholarships to student-athletes over the years.
Dr. Nettey championed the High School and College Draft in 2017 as a means to get more talented basketball players into school. He also moved the College forward immensely to become only the second academic African institution to be listed on the Stock Exchange.
The renowned Doctor has a wife and three children.
